Rain & go / no-go policy

Weather arguments ruin rides. Publish a short policy with every event on Moto Band so riders know how decisions are made before they leave home.

1. Publish the policy with the invite

  • State the go / no-go cutoff time (e.g. 2 hours before meeting)
  • Name who decides (ride leader) and where the update will appear
  • Link the policy in your event description so late joiners see it

2. Simple decision matrix

  • Light rain + warm temps + known roads → ride may proceed at reduced pace
  • Standing water, thunderstorms, or freezing temps → cancel or postpone
  • Fog with poor visibility on the planned route → delay or shorten

3. Communicate early

  • Post the decision in group chat and on the event page
  • If canceling, suggest an alternate date in the same message
  • Thank riders who already prepared — it builds trust for next time

4. If you ride in the wet

  • Increase following distance and avoid painted lines and metal covers
  • Skip aggressive mountain passes; prefer familiar main roads
  • Agree a shorter coffee-run alternative before leaving the meeting point
