Rain & go / no-go policy
Weather arguments ruin rides. Publish a short policy with every event on Moto Band so riders know how decisions are made before they leave home.
1. Publish the policy with the invite
- State the go / no-go cutoff time (e.g. 2 hours before meeting)
- Name who decides (ride leader) and where the update will appear
- Link the policy in your event description so late joiners see it
2. Simple decision matrix
- Light rain + warm temps + known roads → ride may proceed at reduced pace
- Standing water, thunderstorms, or freezing temps → cancel or postpone
- Fog with poor visibility on the planned route → delay or shorten
3. Communicate early
- Post the decision in group chat and on the event page
- If canceling, suggest an alternate date in the same message
- Thank riders who already prepared — it builds trust for next time
4. If you ride in the wet
- Increase following distance and avoid painted lines and metal covers
- Skip aggressive mountain passes; prefer familiar main roads
- Agree a shorter coffee-run alternative before leaving the meeting point
